3 major new school buildings for classrooms, laboratories, orchestra and music recitals were added to pre-existing buildings at the Ardsley High School. The additions feature a glazed, exposed steel connecting link, 3-story clear height spaces and multi-level structures. A special feature of the buildings is the asymmetry of the plan and absence of bracing. The lateral stability of all the structures is accounted for by special seismic multi-story moment frames. The frames were designed in accordance with IBC 2000 code criteria.
